Statement of Intent




Statement of Aims

The idea for my music video is that it will be a narrative and performance combined. It will feature different males as the song is based around ‘men’ and they will have different personalities reflecting the setting that they’re in. This concept will fit into the dance genre with my song “Badman” by Idris Elba because it has an urban beat throughout which is shown by all the settings being city and graffiti based. My idea will attract the 16-25 and ABC1 demographic because the characters involved in the video will be of the same age range and the video will be relevant to the society that they live in. The characters will also act as teenage stereotypes. My record company is Universal and my video will fit their values as it will entertain, it will be innovative and will focus on artistry. For intertextuality, I will use the costume of suits and will use 4 males to recreate the iconic picture of the Beatles walking along a zebra crossing and this will be obvious to the audience due to the setting and clothes. My use of editing will attract the audience and will suit the genre because it will have fast cuts between each scene. The performance and narrative aspects of the video will attract the audience and suit the genre because it is relative and relatable to life for the specific audience that are being targeted. The majority of the shots will be medium long and close ups as the song focuses on males and personalities which is what I would like the video to do also. The lighting will be a mixture of light and dark. The message of my video is that there are stereotypes of people especially teenagers, but it does not mean they are all the same. This would fit in because the people targeted are stereotyped in the same way.
The website design choices will attract the audience because it is modern and fits in with the song which would be popular among this age range and demographic. The pages on my website will include a gallery of pictures, a video page and a shop. The website will allow interactivity by showing social media comments on the site. And reviews will also be left on there. The visual elements will keep the audience hooked because they are fitting to the genre and audience.

The images and colours are all very bright to signify the dance element of the video and song. The colour scheme is the same on the website and in the video. The music video will be used on the website by being advertised over the site to emphasise that it is a new video. The slight comedy element is unique to the website and will not be featured in the video because it shows the strong friendship between the artists. Social media will help to promote the new video which will please the audience and Universal because it is modern.
